Montroy Hired as the Head Coach of Illinois Piasa

Collinsville, IL - Illinois Piasa is proud to announce that Doug Montroy has been named Head Coach and Technical Director of the team for the 2013-14 PASL season.

Montroy brings a wealth of experience to the club. Doug grew up playing soccer in the local club system and played high school soccer for both Vianney and Parkway North. He went on to be a four year starter and team captain in college spending two years at Blackburn College before returning to St. Louis to play his final two seasons at Webster University.

After completing his college career, Montroy continued his soccer career playing both outdoor and indoor in a variety of leagues, including stints with the Tampa Bay Terror and Memphis Storm, among others.

In addition to a diverse background as a player, Montroy is a USSF licensed coach with two decades of coaching experience. Doug served as the boys and girls Head Coach for University City High School as well as an Assistant Coach at Pattonville High School. He has also worked with several clubs as a coach and trainer, including Fred Weber SC, Iron Kids Premier, Swanner United, and Lou Fusz. Montroy founded Olympique PFK and served as a trainer for First Touch Soccer Academy. He also served as an Assistant Coach for Swanner United FC that played in the PASL-Premier.

Coach Montroy is looking forward to building a team that can compete for a PASL title. "The St. Louis area has a long and proud soccer tradition. I believe Illinois Piasa can use that soccer rich tradition to build a model PASL franchise. We will tap into the wealth of talent in and around the metro area to provide the fans with a fast paced, aggressive brand of soccer." said coach Montroy. Tryouts for the Illinois Piasa are August 24 from 8:00-10:00 am, and August 25 from 7:00-9:00 pm at The Field Sports Complex in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.
