The hosts struck first with a goal from Bruno Lapa in the 22nd minute of the match before adding a penalty kick scores in the 31st to double their lead. Lapa then scored again in the 43rd minute, and another penalty was awarded and converted in the 49th to blow the match open one minute after Loudoun United's Houssou Landry received a straight red and left the match. Despite being down a man, Loudoun managed to pull one back in the 54th, but two additional late goals from Birmingham in the 88th and 90+3rd minute of added time put the stamp on a 6-1 defeat for Loudoun.
Notes: Tomorrow's match will be the first-ever meeting between the sides and the third consecutive Eastern Conference opponent for the Union. In addition, the match will be the furthest that Monterey Bay has traveled for a contest in the club's short history.
