Fresno Monsters News Release
Fresno, Calif. - MONSTERS WEEKLY is a weekly review of everything Monsters Hockey: weekend game recap, player and goalie stats, player spotlight, and upcoming events.
The NAHL Fresno Monsters team returned to Fresno after a three-week road trip to Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada and three stops in Alaska. The NAHL Monsters will be idle this weekend, but the WSHL Monsters will hit the road to Chandler, Arizona to battle the Phoenix Knights. They will play a three-game series before returning to Fresno for the home opener at Selland Arena.
The Fresno Monsters home opener is Friday, October 28th at Selland Arena. Individual tickets will go on sale Monday, October 24th at the Selland Arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Season tickets for the 2011-2012 Fresno Monsters season are on sale now through the Fresno Monsters front office.

WEEKEND RECAP
NAHL Monsters @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs - Fairbanks, Alaska
Wednesday, 10/12/2011 - Ice Dogs 4, Monsters 3: Ice Dogs forward JT Osborn had the Monsters' number in this series. Fresno came back late in the 3rd period to climb within one goal, but they couldn't find the equalizer.
Thursday, 10/13/2011 - Ice Dogs 3, Monsters 1: The Ice Dogs completed the series sweep of the Monsters with a 3-1 win. The Monsters play Fairbanks at home December 30 & 31.
NAHL Monsters @ Alaska Avalanche - Palmer, Alaska
Friday, 10/14/2011 - Avalanche 3, Monsters 0:
Fresno suffered their first shutout loss of the season at the hands of the Avalanche 3-0. Fresno held Alaska scoreless on all 4 of their power play chances.
Saturday, 10/15/2011 - Avalanche 5, Monsters 2:
The Avalanche were too much for the Monsters on Saturday night. The Monsters fell 5-2, but held Alaska scoreless on all 4 of their power play opportunities for the second-straight night.
Sunday, 10/16/2011 - Avalanche 3, Monsters 1:
The Monsters 19-day road trip finally came to a close, but on a sour note. Fresno now looks forward to a weekend off before the team's home opener on Friday, October 28th at Selland Arena against the Kenai River Brown Bears.
NAHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
KYLE SUCHER: Sucher has been solid on the blue line for Fresno. Wednesday he scored a goal and a power play assist, earning a +1 rating and 3rd star of the game honors against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Saturday he also recorded a goal for Fresno against the Alaska Avalanche, making him second in scoring amongst defensemen for the Monsters.
BRENDAN BRADLEY: Bradley is a consistent point-scorer for Fresno. He tallied a power play goal and an assist Wednesday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, earning a +2 rating on the evening. He also added a goal on Saturday night against the Alaska Avalanche. Bradley is ranked 3rd in scoring for the Monsters with 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points in 13 games.
TOMAS SHOLL: Sholl was solid between the pipes for Fresno this week. Friday he stopped 34 of 37 shots from the Alaska Avalanche, good for a save percentage of .919 and 3rd star of the game. Sunday he was great, stopping 28 of 30 shots, good for a save percentage of .933 and 3rd star of the game honors yet again. He also held the Avalanche scoreless on all 4 of their power play chances both on Friday and Sunday night.

WSHL Monsters @ Texas Brahmas; N. Richland Hills, Texas
Friday, 10/14/2011 - Monsters 5, Brahmas 2: Fresno won the game with help from a 4-goal explosion from the team in the second period, leading the way to a 5-2 victory.Saturday, 10/15/2011 - Monsters 4, Brahmas 1: The Monsters held the Brahmas scoreless on all 9 of their power play opportunities. Fresno's penalty kill led the way to a 4-1 victory.
Sunday, 10/16/2011 - Monsters 4, Brahmas 2: The Fresno Monsters completed the three-game sweep of the Texas Brahmas Sunday, closing with a 4-2 win. Fresno blanked the Brahmas' power play again, killing all 4 opportunities and stopping 43 of 45 shots on goal.
WSHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
JOSIAH NIKKEL: Nikkel had an amazing weekend against the Texas Brahmas. Friday he scored the game-winning goal. Saturday he also scored the game-winning goal on the power play and a regular strength goal. Sunday he finished the series with a short-handed, empty net goal to give the Monsters the three-game sweep over the Brahmas.
MARC HAAF: Haaf played well last weekend against the Texas Brahmas. He notched two assists in Friday's 5-2 victory. He also scored the game-winning goal in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Brahmas.
TOM McGUCKIN: McGuckin was stellar between the pipes for the Monsters this weekend. Friday he stopped 30 of 32 Brahmas' shots, good enough for a .938 save percentage and the victory. Sunday he had a busy night making 43 of 45 saves, good for a .956 save percentage and another Monster win to keep the team undefeated this season.
