WEEKEND RECAP

NAHL SHOWCASE - BLAINE, MINNESOTA

WEDNESDAY, 9/15/2010: The Fresno Monsters opened their inaugural NAHL season on a harsh note, losing to the defending national champion Bismarck Bobcats by a final score of 7-2. Fresno's Mike Cox score the team's first-ever goal in the Monsters' new league.

THURSDAY, 9/16/2010: The Fresno Monsters won in a nail-biter by a score of 4-3 to the Amarillo Bulls, coming back from a 3-1 deficit. Fresno's Jeff Pauluk scored the game-winning goal with just 11 seconds left in the 3rd period.

FRIDAY, 9/17/2010: The Fresno Monsters fell just short of the previous night's heroics. Trailing 3-1 at the start of the 3rd period, the Monsters rallied to tie the game at 3 and force overtime, but the St. Louis Bandits scored the game-winner in overtime to win 4-3.

SATURDAY, 9/18/2010: The Fresno Monsters wrapped up the last game of the NAHL Showcase on a winning note, defeating the Springfield Jr. Blues by a final score of 4-2. Fresno's goaltender Peter Megariotis recorded his first win of the season, stopping 24 of 26 shots on goal.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

JOHN SIEMER: Siemer leads the team in scoring this season, accruing 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points in 4 games at the NAHL Showcase this past week.

JOHAN BJORKLUND: Bjorklund joined the team in Minnesota on Tuesday, and with just one day of practice prior to the Showcase has already accumulated a point per game.

JEFF PAULUK: Defenseman Jeff Pauluk was the hero Thursday night, scoring the Monsters' game-winning goal with just 11 seconds left in the 3rd period against the Amarillo Bulls.
