Fresno, Calif. - MONSTERS WEEKLY is a weekly review of everything Monsters Hockey: weekend game recap, player and goalie stats, player spotlight, and upcoming events.
The Monsters return to Selland Arena Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:05pm and Friday & Saturday, February 25th and 26th at 3:30pm for WSHL Monster action and NAHL action to follow at 7:35pm. Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday! The first 300 fans through the doors receive coupons courtesy of Boomers. Saturday is Military and Public Safety Night. Come early for the public safety fair in the Selland Arena parking lot before the game. Bring the kids to get fingerprinted at the game. Stay for the live post-game jersey auction with proceeds to benefit the Fresno PAL program.THURSDAY, 2/10/2011: Everything went Wenatchee's way on Thursday, as the Wild rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Monsters.
FRIDAY, 2/11/2011: The Monsters retaliated on Friday against the Wild, defeating Wenatchee by a final score of 2-1. Fresno's defense was solid, holding the Wild to just 21 shots on goal.
WSHL Monsters News: The WSHL Monsters went 2-1 against the defending league champ Phoenix Polar Bears in Fresno last weekend. Phoenix took game 1 by a final score of 4-1, but Fresno responded with an offensive attack on Saturday & Sunday, winning by final scores of 5-2 and 4-1 respectively. The second-place Monsters head to Idaho this weekend to battle the first-place Idaho Jr. Steelheads. This weekend's games will play a major part determining which team will finish first in the Western Division and have home-ice advantage through the playoffs.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
TOM CONLIN: Conlin was impressive in net on Friday against Wenatchee, stopping 20 of 21 shots on goal for a .952 save percentage and first star of the game honors.
DEREK SUTLIFFE: Sutliffe notched his 2nd game-winning goal of the season on Friday night against Wenatchee to help the Monsters topple the Wild. For his efforts he was awarded second star of the game honors.
THOMAS FREEMAN: Freeman assisted the game-winning goal on Friday night against the Wenatchee Wild. He was a +1 on the evening.
