Monsters Announce Draft Picks, Tenders and Trades

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Monsters have had a busy first part of the off-season with the North American Hockey League Draft, tenders, and player trades. In a trade the Monsters picked up a right-shot power forward Trevor Husch from the Aberdeen Wings in the NAHL. Husch, a 6'2" right wing will add depth to the line-up. "Trevor Husch was someone we have been targeting for quite some time," explains GM/NAHL Monsters' Head Coach Eric Ballard. "We couldn't be more excited to get a player of his skill and size. He will fit in well in Fresno."
The Fresno Monsters also traded forward Ryan Doner to the Minot Minotauros and forward Nathan Ropelewski to the Jamestown Ironmen in the NAHL, both teams the Monsters' will play at home at Selland Arena this season.
The Monsters' also tendered forwards Alex Mason from Maple Grove, Minnesota, Mitchell Snyder from the Colorado Rampage AAA hockey team, Gordon Wells from the Twin Cities Northern Lights, Daniel Rosse from the St. Louis Jr. Blues, Matt Crist, former teammate of Monsters' defenseman Jesse Durfee, Sean Kalbak from the California Titans AAA hockey team, James Mathias from the Orange County Hockey Club in Southern California, and Justin Pelock will add much needed experience and depth after playing in Canada last season. The team also added defensemen Christian Salvator of the L.A. Jr. Kings AAA program, Drew Aspinwall of Maple Grove High School in Minnesota and Andy Herlofsky of the Anoka Tornadoes in the Minnesota High School Hockey League. Goaltender Alec Rounds, a California-native, was signed from the Victory Honda AAA hockey club in Michigan.
The Monsters also drafted two players in the 2012 NAHL Draft, Ian Janco and Colin Hernon, from Bloomington Jefferson High School in Minnesota, the same hockey program as standout Monster defenseman Jeffrey Pauluk. Janco was selected in the 2nd round, 33rd overall, and Hernon was selected in the 3rd round, 56th overall.
