Amsterdam Mohawks News Release
The Amsterdam Mohawks have announced the scheduling of a game against the Shikoku Island All-Star team from Japan. The game will take place at 4:00 Monday June 6. The early start will allow the team, who is in the US playing games to promote professional baseball in Japan, to return to their host families at a reasonable hour. The game is presented by the glove maker Swany Corporation of Johnstown, NY. Swany actually has their home headquarters in the Shikoku Islands.
The Shikoku Island League is the level below the Nippon Professional Baseball League (the Major Leagues of Japan) and many of the players end up in the NPB. The team will be visiting area schools in the morning and practicing all day at the park prior to the game.
