
Mohawks Announce 2013 Infielders

Amsterdam Mohawks News Release
The Amsterdam Mohawks have announced the signing of their infielders for the 2013 season. Five players from around the nation, John Sansone (Florida State), Josh Gardiner (Radford), Ronnie Bernick (Canisius), Devin Wenzel (Cincinnati), and Brian Ruby (Bingamton) will make up what the Mohawks hope to be a mainstay of another championship team.
Sansone, a native of New Castle, PA has been Florida State's starting second baseman all season. The true fresman has started 46 of 49 games for the 6th ranked Seminoles and is currently hitting .257 with 29 walks.
Gardiner, a sophomore second baseman from Culpeper,VA is Radford's leadoff hitter. On the season, Josh has served as a sparkplug for the Highlanders, hitting .314 with 17 stolen bases in 44 games.
Bernick, a junior shortstop from Pittsburgh, PA is Canisius' starting shortstop. For the season, Ronnie is batting .281. He has amazingly only committed 5 errors in 35 games as well.
Wenzel, a true freshman at Cincinnati served as the Bearcats cleanup hitter and third baseman since the beginning of the season. The Blandon, PA native is hitting .258 with four homeruns on the season.
Ruby, a returner from the 2012 Mohawks championship team, has been a two year starter at Binghmaton at 1B/3B. The Binghamton native, has hit in the cleanup spot for the Bearcats for two years. On the year, Brian has hit an inconsistent .210, after posting a .371 batting average as a freshman a year ago.
The Mohawks will begin their title defense on June 5th in Albany against the Dutchmen. They then play their home opener on Thursday, June 6th against the Utica Brewers and follow it up with its first of five post-game fireworks shows on Saturday June 8.
