Moglia to Speak at AFCA Convention

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Friday, January 7, 2011 - Virginia Destroyers President and Head Coach JOE MOGLIA will speak at the President's Kickoff Luncheon at the 88th annual AFCA Convention in Dallas, Texas, on Monday, January 10. Virginia Destroyers President and Head Coach

The prestigious event takes place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas from January 9-12 as some of the most successful collegiate coaches in the country share their ideas on Xs and Os and football philosophy.

Destroyers Head Coach Moglia will be the keynote speaker at the Kickoff Luncheon, which is a ticket only event from 11.30am to 1.45pm on Monday.

The former Dartmouth Defensive Coordinator will explain how he reestablished himself in the world of college football by joining the University of Nebraska staff as an Executive Advisor to the Head Football Coach. In the business world, both at TD Ameritrade and at Merrill Lynch, Moglia has led, strategized, and executed world-class plans in an extraordinary way for almost two decades on a national and global scale.

In 2011, Moglia will assume his first professional head coaching position in the United Football League, 27 years after he left the Defensive Coordinator role at Dartmouth, having won two Ivy League championships, to pursue a career in business. In 2009 he attended and observed spring practice at the University of Virginia before becoming Executive Advisor to the head football coach at the University of Nebraska.

The AFCA Convention serves as the culmination of the football season for more than 6,000 coaches expected to attend. The convention will feature a three-day coaching clinic and several other functions, including the Schutt Sports Awards Luncheon and the AFCA Coach of the Year Dinner.

The speaker schedule for the 2011 convention includes many great coaches from around the country such as: LSU's Les Miles, Michigan State's Mark Dantonio, Wisconsin's Bret Bielema, Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy and former head coaches Gary Darnell, Glen Mason, Barry Alvarez and Fisher DeBerry. The convention is open only to AFCA-AFCF members.
