The Los Angeles Galaxy return home suffering through the most uncharacteristic of seasons - their club-record scoreless streak (just shy of the MLS record) was ended last weekend, but their club-record losing run is now six games after a 2-1 loss to Houston Dynamo. The recent run cost Steve Sampson his job this week after less than two years in charge. In addition, the Galaxy have yet to win a home game this season - their lone win at The Home Depot Center came earlier this year against Chivas USA, in the first meeting between the clubs, a Chivas home game. This time the "visitors", Chivas come into the game riding the first winning streak in club history, their 3-1 win against Colorado on Saturday following a victory against Chicago Fire the weekend before - with both matches played at home.

This is the second of four league meetings scheduled this year between the Home Depot Center neighbors, the first as a Galaxy home game this season. The final two league encounters are set for July 15 (Chivas home game) and Sept. 30 (Galaxy home).
A year ago, the Galaxy swept the season series from their expansion ground-share partners, allowing just one goal in the four league meetings. The fourth meeting between the clubs took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before 88,816 as part of a Club América-CD Guadalajara doubleheader - the second-largest crowd ever to see an MLS regular season game.
The Galaxy also claimed a 5-2 victory in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, played Aug. 3 at the Track & Field Stadium at The Home Depot Center (Sequeira 4, Ramirez 20 - Jones 16, Ngwenya 36, Gomez 45, Donovan 89, Albright 91+)

The second meeting for the Rocky Mountain Cup this season is ahead in Denver, with Real Salt Lake hoping their recent overall positive run can end a negative one against their arch-rivals. The Colorado Rapids haven't lost in the last four meetings between the clubs, winning the last three in 2005 before they played to a 2-2 draw two weeks ago in Salt Lake City. But Real come into the contest riding a club-record four-game unbeaten streak, while the Rapids saw a three-game unbeaten run of their own ended last weekend.

This is the second of four meetings between the mountain state rivals, with the Rocky Mountain Cup on offer to the winner of the season series. This is the first of two consecutive meetings in Denver, with the next one set for exactly two months away (Aug. 9), before concluding the season series back on the Wasatch Front on Sept. 2.
A year ago, the Rapids claimed the Rocky Mountain Cup in its inaugural season with three victories in the four meetings between the clubs. The Real victory on April 16 in the first meeting was the club's first-ever victory, then the Rapids won the final three encounters, all coming over the final three weeks of the campaign.
