MLS Stars Attend Kick-Off Clinic Friday

November 20, 2003 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release


NEW YORK (Thursday, November 20th) - On Friday, November 21st at the new Home Depot Center in Carson, CA from 1:30pm-3:30pm, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., in collaboration with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, will host a unique soccer clinic for more than 200 bilingual local grade school children from Hawaiian Elementary School to kick-off the MLS Cup weekend. MLS star players, include Preki, The Honda MVP of the Kansas City Wizards, Colorado Rapids MVP, John Spencer, Rookie of the Year contender Pat Noonan, and Ryan Suarez of the L.A. Galaxy. These players will be on hand to demonstrate their skills, sign autographs and take pictures with the kids.

More than two hundred (200) fifth and sixth grade students from Hawaiian Avenue Elementary school will be participating in the clinic. Hawaiian Elementary School is located in nearby Wilmington, CA. The Hawaiian Avenue Elementary children were chosen due to their participation and support of "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF."

The MC of the clinic and former Honda Player of the Year, Eric Wynalda, will kick off the afternoon and then the children will have the opportunity to run through a two-hour interactive soccer skills clinic implemented by MLS Camps Clinicians.

MLS Cup will be played for the first time in Carson, CA. The new Home Depot Center will host the League's eighth championship game--MLS Cup 2003, on Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. PT.
