BOSTON, Mass. - As the Major League Lacrosse trade deadline passed on Tuesday evening, there were very little activity as just two trades were made among the League's ten teams. Los Angeles Riptide midfielder Matt Casey was sent to the Boston Cannons in exchange for a second round pick in next year's Collegiate Draft. Meanwhile, New Jersey Pride midfielder Kevin Boland was dealt to the Washington Bayhawks for a fifth round pick in the 2009 Collegiate Draft.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2007 Supplemental Draft by the Riptide, Casey played in 17 games for the Riptide over the last two years. He scored 13 goals and added three assists during his two-year tenure with the Riptide.

Casey scored a career-high three goals in the Riptide's May 31 win over San Francisco and also had a pair of assists against Long Island on June 21.

Boland will return to the Bayhawks after playing for the team during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. He has seen limited time with the Pride this season, playing in two games. He scored a goal with two assists at Denver on May 31 and also had an assist in the season opener at Boston.

The former Johns Hopkins University midfielder enjoyed his best season with the Pride last year when he scored 15 goals and added eight assists in eight games. Against the Bayhawks on June 2 last year, he scored a career-high four goals and also added an assist. He also led the Pride to a victory over Chicago with three goals and a career-high four assists.

A two-time All-America selection at Johns Hopkins, Boland was drafted by the Bayhawks in the third round of the 2004 Collegiate Draft. In two seasons with Baltimore, he scored two goals with 12 assists in nine games before being acquired by Chicago in the 2006 Expansion Draft.

The MLL season will continue on Thursday night when the two-time defending champion Philadelphia Barrage travel to Yurcak Field for an Eastern Conference match-up against the New Jersey Pride.
