
Mississippi's Matt Zultek Named SBK Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 18, 2011) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Matt Zultek of the Mississippi Surge is the SBK Player of the Week for January 10-16.
Zultek scored six goals, including two game-winners, and added a pair of assists as Mississippi went 3-0 for the week and moved into sole possession of first place.
On Thursday, the Mississauga, Ontario native recorded his third hat trick of the season and added an assist in Mississippi's 5-2 win over Louisiana. After scoring once in the first period, Zultek scored two goals in the span of 12 seconds early in the second period to complete the hat trick. Zultek scored a power play goal the next night in a 3-2 win over Knoxville before netting two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Augusta on Saturday.
Zultek, who is in his 10th professional season, was selected in the first round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft (15th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings, who acquired the pick as part of the trade that sent Wayne Gretzky from Los Angeles to St. Louis. Zultek currently leads the SPHL in goals (28) and power play goals (10) and is second in the league in game-winning goals (5) and plus-minus rating (+15).
