Biloxi, Miss - Mississippi Surge Hockey team will be gliding into town in October for a season focused on goal scoring and creating positive change in the community thanks to a new partnership with United Way of South Mississippi.

The Surge has always brought fun and excitement to the coast throughout its hockey seasons, but this year it plans to also bring a strong commitment to bettering the community.

The two organizations will be working together in many ways throughout the season including community nights for fans to interact with players, Surge hockey players participating in volunteer projects and fundraising events.

"Our players have always been committed to South Mississippi, but this year, we are so excited to have a partnership with United Way to better meet the needs of our community," said Tim Kerr, owner of Mississippi Surge.

Surge fans should also expect to see UWSM's name, logo and public service announcements displayed at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum during hockey games.

"We are excited to be able to share with the community how United Way makes a difference in South Mississippi at the hockey games," said Sue Suter, UWSM CEO. "It is a great audience and amazing arena to spread the word about United Way's impact. We hope people will leave the games, having watched a great win and a better idea of how to make a difference within our community."

Mississippi Surge season tickets are still on sale and available through the team front office. For more information on how you can reserve your seats just call (228) 594-3800 or go to www.mssurge.com.
