Blast Notes â The reigning king of the Eastern Division has a big home-and-home series with Philadelphia scheduled for this weekend. KiXX visit Baltimore on Friday. Blast makes the trip on Saturday night. Rivals split six meetings in 2003-04. Averaged MISL-best 6.7 goals per game in the regular season last year, scoring 5.3 through three games in 2004-05. Baltimore currently boasts four of the top 11 scorers in the MISL (P.J. Wakefield, Giuliano Celenza, Denison Cabral, Carlos "Chile" Farias). Defense has allowed just one fourth quarter goal. Received 2003-04 MISL Championship rings before 8,153 fans at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore on Oct. 16.

Storm Notes â Chicago will look to string two wins together on Wednesday when Cleveland visits the UIC Pavilion for the first time. On Friday (Oct. 29) the Storm scored their first win in club history as Ryan Futagaki's overtime score pushed Chicago past Central Division rival Milwaukee, 9-8. The Wave had taken the season opener one week earlier, 8-3, but the expansion Storm answered as Jorge Valle led the way with three goals. Chris Carriieri sent the game into OT with a goal with 10 seconds left in regulation. Futagaki, signed earlier in the day, then came through with the clincher. Chicago has been outscored 7-2 in the first quarter. GK's Danny Waltman (7.49 g.a.a) and Jeff Richey (8.00 g.a.a) have each made one start.

Comets Notes â The Comets play three more road games before returning to Kemper Arena for their home opener on Nov. 27. Prior to this season the Comets made the move to the Western Division. With a 6-4 opening night victory against Western foe San Diego on Oct. 22, Kansas City made a statement. Two-time MISL MVP Dino Delevski, who totaled 43 goals last year to finish second in the League in that category, has two goals and two assists after one game. Veteran GK Chris Damico stopped 20 of 24 shots versus San Diego. MF Casey Stevens scored two goals on three shots in fourth career MISL game. Split six games with Saturday's opponent â Milwaukee â in 2003-04.

Force Notes â Idle last week after losing 2004-05 debut to Philadelphia, 11-8, on Oct. 23. Despite injuries that kept forwards Adauto Neto and Joel Bailey out of the line-up, the Force came up with 51 shots and eight goals against the KiXX. Newly-acquired targets Chris Handsor and Sipho Sibiya each netted two scores. The Force showed its potential firepower with five goals during a 6:40 span in the third quarter. On Oct. 26, the Force signed MISL rookie GK Bayard Elfvin to a contract.
Cleveland will play five games in November, with the first two coming against the Chicago Storm this week. Force is in Chicago on Wednesday, Storm makes turnaround visit to Cleveland on Sunday.

Wave Notes â Spilt season-opening home and home set with Chicago. Fell to 1-1 following Oct. 29, 9-8, overtime loss in most recent game. All-Star brother tandem of Troy and Todd Dusosky lead the team in scoring, Troy with six points, Todd with five. Goalkeepers Nick Vorberg (3.00 g.a.a.) and Dan Green (8.37 g.a.a.) have each made one start. Wave opened 2003-04 by winning seven of eight games in Oct. and Nov. Last season's MISL MVP and Spalding Scoring Champ, Greg Howes, has two goals on team-high 12 shots this season. Milwaukee holds a 41-28 lead in its all-time regular season series with Saturday's opponent, Kansas City, including a 28-6 record at home. Milwaukee is 125-45 (.735) in its last 170 games.

Tigres Notes - Mexico's MISL entrant fell short in its season opener, losing 10-2 to San Diego on Oct. 29. Head coach Erich Geyer has been involved with 13 professional indoor championships as player, coach or assistant. Defender Genoni Martinez is the MISL's two-time defending Defender of the Year, who finished second in the League in points last season, and was especially effective on restart opportunities. Forward Marco "Chikis" Lopez placed fifth in points, giving Monterrey a revered one-two punch. Marco Coria and Alejandro Pena scored goals in the Tigres opening game. Martinez and Lopez combined for 13 shots, but failed to score in San Diego.

KiXX Notes â Having averaged 5.4 goals per game in 2003-04, the KiXX came out flying with 11 goals in11-8 win over Cleveland on Oct. 23. Some familiar faces - player-coach Don D'Ambra, Goran Vasic, Shawn Boney, and Pat Morris â led the charge. Several of KiXX's nine newcomers were also instrumental. Nine-year professional indoor vet GK Stuart Dobson stopped 18 of 26 shots. This weekend's home and home series with Baltimore pits two of the MISL's more bitter rivals. KiXX have a 6-2 mark in home openers. KiXX lead all-time series with Blast, 31-23.

Steamers Notes - In September, announced new ownership, a new logo, and a move to a downtown arena. On Oct. 29, Steamers opened at Savvis Center with an 8-7 OT loss to Baltimore. Visit San Diego on Friday before getting another chance to play before the home fans on Saturday evening. Added popular MF Nate Houser (Kansas City Comets) to its line-up this week. Co-owners Wally Smerconish and Michael Hetelson have begun production on a reality television show that focuses on the team. In 2003-04 the Steamers won three of four games against Friday's opponent, San Diego.

Sockers Notes â Sockers played four games in October, more than any other MISL club. Target Mark Ughy, the current MISL Offensive Player of the Month, is back from last season's knee injury and performing at a high level. Ughy's seven goals and nine points are tops in the MISL. He has scored in every game. September-acquisition F Steve Butcher continues to produce in his new surroundings, netting four goals and two assists. Sockers will have the opportunity on Friday to pick up their 3rd victory of the season, something they didn't do until Nov. 29 in 2003-04.
