MISL Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie Team Announced

The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today the six members of its 2010-11 MISL All-Rookie Team and that Missouri Comets midfielder Lucas Rodriguez has been voted the 2010-11 MISL Rookie of the Year. The announcement follows a formal voting process that polled members of the media, as well as MISL coaches and general managers. Included in the All-Rookie team are three members of the Omaha Vipers, two members of the Comets and one Chicago Riot player. Voters were asked to select three forwards/midfielders and two defenders and one goalkeeper.

Rodriquez, a 25-year-old midfielder, recorded six goals and seven assists (19 points) in 17 games this season and ranked sixth on the Comets in scoring. A local Kansas City product, Rodriquez led all MISL rookies in points and scored all of his points in his last 10 games of the season, including a five-point outing on February 16 in Missouri ‚¬â„¢s win over the Riot.

In addition to Rodriguez, the Comets also placed defender Brian Harris on the All-Rookie Team. Harris tied for the Comets team lead with 20 blocks, which also tied him for sixth in the MISL. The Vipers boast goalkeeper Josh Miller, who started four of the Vipers ‚¬â„¢ last six games, defender Ryan Junge, who accounted for 21 of Omaha ‚¬â„¢s 31 defensive points, and Mauricio Curiel Hernandez, who recorded 15 points in 20 games. Riot forward Alex Megson, who recorded 20 points in 18 games, rounds out the All-Rookie Team. Megson recorded give goals in the Riot ‚¬â„¢s last five games.

About the Major Indoor Soccer League

The MISL represents the Major League of professional indoor soccer in the United States and features the finest indoor soccer players from around the world. The league has five member clubs for the 2010-11 season: the Baltimore Blast, Chicago Riot, Milwaukee Wave, Missouri Comets and Omaha Vipers. The 2010-11 regular season began on November 12 and ended on March 13; the postseason began March 16 with the Milwaukee Wave and Missouri Comets facing each other in the Semifinals.
