Published on March 29, 2004 under Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2) News Release
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Dan Green, Milwaukee Wave
Green went 2-0 with a 4.00 goals against average and .789 save percentage for the Wave over the weekend. The 31-year-old saved 14 of 18 shots as the Wave downed San Diego 9-4 last Thursday, and turned away 16 of 20 shots in a 5-4 victory over St. Louis on Saturday. Green has put together an impressive 2003-04 campaign. Entering the week, he leads the MISL with a 3.87 goals against average and is second in save percentage at .759. With a 16-3 record, he is also the League's leader in winning percentage (.842). Green was also named Goalkeeper of the Week on January 5.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Morman, Milwaukee Wave
Morman was big at both ends of the floor in Milwaukee's 2-0 weekend, scoring three points and blocking six shots. In Thursday's 9-4 win over San Diego, the 26-year-old blocked two shots and accounted for the game-winning goal at 14:52 of the second quarter. On Saturday against the Steamers, Morman led the Wave in points with two (goal, assist) and blocks with four. The All-Star defender has now scored 15 goals and 19 points while blocking 51 shots in 30 games for the Wave this season. He also earned weekly defensive honors on October 20.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wes Wade, Kansas City Comets
Wade's diving header at 7:56 of overtime gave the Comets an 11-10 win over the Monterrey Fury at Arena Monterrey on Sunday night. The goal was his second of the game; he added two assists to finish with four points. The 36-year-old is making the most of what appears to be the final playoff run of his career: Wade has indicated that he will retire following the 2003-04 season, and is set to play his final regular season game at Kemper Arena this Saturday against San Diego â the team he began his indoor career with in 1989. One of indoor soccer's all-time greats, Wade is the Comets' all-time leader in games played (400), points (1,002), goals (278), assists (436), and blocks (409). The seven-time All-Star won two championships (1992-93 and 1996-97) with the Comets' predecessor, the Attack, and also earned three titles with San Diego of the original MISL (1989-92). This is his first weekly honor of the season.
