GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
DJ Horvath, Dallas Sidekicks
Horvath went 2-1 with a 3.72 goals against average and .776 save percentage for Dallas last week. In an 8-3 win over St. Louis on Wednesday, March 17, Horvath turned away 20 of 23 shots. The 33-year-old made 13 saves on 18 shots in a 5-4 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday, and repelled five of the eight shots he faced in a 4-3 win over the Wave on Sunday. Horvath, a native of Hungary, is now 5-4 with a 3.94 GAA and .772 save percentage in nine games for the Sidekicks since the middle of February. He joins Sagu (November 3 and 24, January 26) as Dallas netminders to win weekly accolades in 2003-04.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Ball, Cleveland Force
Ball scored three points (goal, two assists) and blocked eight shots in Cleveland's two victories last week. The 31-year-old assisted on two scores and blocked four shots in the Force's 8-3 win over Philadelphia last Friday, and tallied a goal and four rejections in an 8-7 overtime win against Kansas City on Sunday. The three-time All-Star has scored nine points and blocked 19 shots over his last nine games, and has registered 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) and 47 blocks on the season. Ball becomes the third Cleveland player to earn weekly defensive honors this season, joining Josh Timbers (November 3) and Omid Namazi (February 16).
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marco Lopez, Monterrey Fury
Lopez scored four goals and assisted on four others for eight points as Monterrey went 2-1 last week. The diminutive playmaker accounted for two points (goal, assist) as the Fury lost to San Diego 7-6 last Wednesday, and exploded for five points (three goals, two assists) in a 10-6 Monterrey win over the Sockers on Thursday. The native of Mexico City capped off his week with an assist in a 6-5 overtime win versus Baltimore on Sunday. Lopez, 30, ranks sixth in the MISL with 52 points, and is third in the League with 28 assists. He was also named the League's Offensive Player of the Week on December 29.
