
MISL Disciplines St. Louis\' Phillips

Westport, Conn. (Friday, January 14, 2005) â The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that it has suspended St. Louis goalkeeper Brett Phillips for one additional game for violent conduct in St. Louis' home match versus the Chicago Storm on January 9, 2005. Phillips was issued a Red Card for his participation in violent conduct at the conclusion of the match. The Red Card carries an automatic one-game suspension, which Phillips will serve in his team's game in Cleveland on Friday, January 14. Phillips will serve his additional one-game suspension on Saturday, January 15 at Kansas City.
St. Louis defenders Matt Caution and Mali Walton, as well as Chicago forwards Mark Ughy and Byron Alvarez, and Storm defender Tijani Ayegbusi each received a Red Card for violent conduct in the January 9 match. Caution and Walton will serve their automatic one-game suspension versus Cleveland on January 14, while Ughy, Alvarez, and Ayegbusi will serve their automatic one-game suspension in Chicago's home match versus Kansas City on Sunday, January 16.
The Major Indoor Soccer League is a single-entity organization featuring a coast-to-coast presence with seven teams located across the United States. On February 27, the League announced an expansion team in Stockton, CA, that will begin play in 2005-06. On May 4, the League announced plans for an expansion team in Newark, NJ, that will begin play in 2007-08. The Dallas Sidekicks, currently reorganizing under new leadership, plan to return for the 2005-06 season. The MISL is the single major league of indoor soccer.
