Minnesota Swarm to Host Open House a Xcel Energy Center January 5 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm announced today that the team will host an open house on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center. Fans will have a chance to meet the 2008 Minnesota Swarm players and the Bud Light Performance Team and watch the team practice and scrimmage. The event is free and open to the public. Season ticket holders can also pick up their tickets and Ryan Cousins statues at the event.

12:30 p.m. Xcel Energy Center doors open

1:00 p.m. Swarm warm-up/practice

1:45 p.m. Swarm Performance team introduction and performance

2:00 p.m. Minnesota Swarm team introduction

2:10 p.m. Swarm team scrimmage (White vs. Blue)

2:45 - 3:30 p.m. Meet and greet on field -- following the scrimmage fans will have an opportunity to come on the field and meet the players and coaches, get autographs and try their hand at lacrosse

The club's 2008 roster features eight new players, including Burnsville, Minn. native F Colin Achenbach who graduated from Apple Valley High School in 2002. Returning players include the team's top three scorers from 2007. Ryan Ward tallied a team-high 75 points (23-52=75), Sean Pollock ranked second with 67 points (26-41=67) and Dean Hill recorded a franchise record 32 goals and finish third on team in scoring with 53 points (32-21=53). The defense will be led by 2007 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All Pro Ryan Cousins, who returns for his fourth season with Minnesota and Second Team All Pro netminder Nick Patterson, who appeared in 14 games last season.

Minnesota advanced to the playoffs for the second consecutive season in 2007 with a 9-7 record and has increased its win total in each of its first three NLL campaigns.

Minnesota hosts the Toronto Rock on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center in the 2008 home opener. Swarm single game tickets are on sale now and range from $12 to $32 per game.
