
Minnesota Swarm Signs Defenseman Darren Halls

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill today announced the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed defenseman Darren Halls to a two-year contract and acquired the Calgary Roughnecks second round pick in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for goaltender Ryan Avery.
Halls, 23 (9/19/84), recorded six points (2-4=6), 18 penalty minutes and 33 loose balls in 13 games with the San Jose Stealth last season. The 6-foot, 195-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario has accumulated 12 points (4-8=12) and 100 loose balls in 32 career NLL contests during three seasons with Arizona and San Jose.
Avery, 25 (6/27/82), was selected by Minnesota with the eighth overall pick in the Dispersal Draft of players from the Arizona and Boston franchises on Nov. 5.
Minnesota hosts the Toronto Rock on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center in the 2008 home opener. Swarm lower level season ticket packages are on sale now and start at $80.
