Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Swarm (3-5) will be back in action this evening against the New England Black Wolves (2-5) for a 7 p.m. showdown at Ho-Chunk Nation Field at Xcel Energy Center. Fans can catch the game for free on UniversalSports.com (U.S.) and TSNGo (Canada).
This will be the second of four meetings between the two teams; Minnesota came out victorious on the road, 19-13, against the Black Wolves back in January. New England has had two consecutive weekends off to prepare for the Swarm, while Minnesota is coming off a bye weekend as well and is eager to play in front of their fans at The Hive.
"We typically play well at home. I think our last home performance, we didn't perform the way we usually do so I know that's on the mind of the players and the coaching staff to really put a good performance out in front of our fans," Swarm assistant coach Aime Caines said.
Before the break, Minnesota dropped its last game to Vancouver 21-15 on the road. The Swarm used its bye weekend to modify things and let guys heal up for the long stretch of games ahead including the back-to-back this coming weekend.
"It's definitely a fresh start for us being at home and having that comfort zone for the players and I think we had to refocus," Caines said. "We had a good practice last weekend and really fine tuned some things and we've been banged up so the break was good for us."
Minnesota will head to Colorado on Sunday to face the Mammoth to close out the regular season series. In the first meeting, Colorado came out on top, 20-13, back on Jan. 3 during the regular season opener. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at Pepsi Center and fans can catch the game on WatchESPN (U.S.) and TSNGo (Canada).
"I think for us it's just important to focus on one game at a time and obviously the fact that we've seen both of these teams already is helpful," Swarm defenseman Mitch Belisle said. "We know what to expect but we're really going to focus on getting the first game in and getting into a groove, playing well, getting into our game and then we can turn our attention to the Mammoth game."
The first 3,000 fans at the gate will receive Swarm-them Leis (Yellow or Blue) to celebrate Hawaiian night on Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-888-MN-SWARM or by visiting www.mnswarm.com.
