Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, MN - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm has teamed up with YMCA and Lakeshore Lax to offer one-day instructional lacrosse clinics across the metro area this February and March.
Led by Swarm players, F Zack Greer and D Joe Cinosky, kids ages 7-13 with any level of playing experience will have the chance to develop their skills while learning from some of the best in the game. The two-hour clinics will run from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the select YMCA branches listed below. Lacrosse equipment will be available on site for participants to use and those who sign up will also receive (1) Minnesota Swarm ticket to a home game this season.
"These clinics will be an exciting way for kids to learn the game or improve their skills," said Greer. "We are looking for all types of players to come out and have some fun."
Greer, 23, joined the Swarm this offseason after he was selected in the first round (third overall) of the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. The former four-time All-American at Duke and Bryant University finished his collegiate playing career as the NCAA's all-time leading point and goal scorer in Division I history. Greer is also involved in the Swarm's Youth Box League and was recently named "Assistant Director" in the program.
Cinosky, 24, was acquired by the Swarm in the first round (13th overall) of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft after playing at the University of Maryland for four seasons. This past offseason, Cinosky was named to the final 23-man roster of the U.S. Men's National Lacrosse Team and was also an All-Star for the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) League Champion Toronto Nationals. Locally, Cinosky will be entering his second season coaching lacrosse at White Bear Lake H.S. this spring.
Lakeshore Lax was founded two years ago with the intentions of bringing Minnesota lacrosse to the next level. Instructional options range anywhere from personal lessons to larger youth camps and tournaments.
