
Minnesota Swarm Announces Protected Player List

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced today the team's Protected Player List for the 2007 National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Expansion Draft. The Expansion Draft will take place on Tuesday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) and mark the Boston expansion club's first major step in building its inaugural season roster.
The Swarm's protected list includes the following 12 players: goaltenders Matt Disher and Nick Patterson; forwards Kasey Beirnes, Chad Culp, Dean Hill, Mike Hominuck, Sean Pollock and Ryan Ward; defensemen Ryan Cousins, Eric Pacey, Ryan Sharp and Jon Sullivan.
Each returning NLL club can protect up to fourteen players on its roster for the Expansion Draft. Clubs may either protect one goaltender and thirteen of its runners (forwards/defensemen/transition players) or two goaltenders and ten runners. The new Boston franchise will select one player from each of the thirteen other NLL franchises. Draft results will be posted live at the league's official website, nll.com.
The Boston club also currently holds the top overall selection in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft, which will take place Sept. 1 at Pepsi Center in Denver, home of the NLL's Colorado Mammoth. The Entry Draft features the best young lacrosse talent from the NCAA US college programs and Canada's junior lacrosse organizations.
