Knighthawks Announce Protected List

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Jody Gage announced the team's protected list for the 2007 National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft. The date of the draft, which will supply the new Boston franchise with its initial roster, will take place on Tuesday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m.
The Knighthawks' protected list includes 2007 MVP and Champion's Cup MVP John Grant, 2007 First Team All-Pros Steve Toll and Shawn Williams, and goalie Pat O'Toole. Rochester also protected Marshall Abrams, Sandy Chapman, Scott Ditzell, Scott and Shawn Evans, Luke Forget, Bill Greer, Stephen Hoar, Jack Reid and Chris Schiller.
Each returning club can protect up to 14 players on its roster from the Expansion Draft. Clubs may either protect one goaltender and 13 of its runners or two goaltenders and 10 runners. No team may lose more than one of its players in the Expansion Draft. Draft results will be posted live at the league's official website, nll.com.
The new Boston franchise will select one player from each of the other 13 franchises. Boston will also have the No. 1 selection in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft, which will take place on Saturday, September 1st at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado, home of the NLL's Colorado Mammoth.
Rochester defeated the Arizona Sting 13-11 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona to capture the 2007 Champion's Cup. The win was the team's 15th straight and capped a 17-2 season.
