Minnesota Magicians News Release
The Magicians were on the road once again this weekend, competing in a 2-game series vs. the Janesville Jets in Wisconsin. The Magicians entered the series having won 5 straight games and had earned at least one point in the standings in each of their previous 7 games. The Jets, on the other hand, had been hot all season accumulating a league leading 88 points in the standings prior to their weekend matchup with the Magicians.
Though the Magicians fought hard all weekend, it was ultimately the Jets who were able to walk away victoriously from both contests. Friday evening's game went down to the final minute, with Janesville capitalizing on a late powerplay to pull ahead with only 47-seconds to go in the game. On Saturday, the teams entered the third period tied 3-3, but Janesville was once again able to score late and win the game.
In one of the few bright spots of the weekend, forward Lukas Laub scored his 20th goal of the season on Friday, which gives him the Magicians' single season record for goals. The previous record holder was Will Johnson, who is currently playing in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Madison Capitols. Johnson finished the 2013-2014 campaign with a total of 19 goals for the Magicians.
The Magicians return to action at Richfield Ice Arena three times this week. On Tuesday, March 17th and Thursday, March 19th, the team will face the Minnesota Wilderness at 7:00 PM. The team will then make a quick trip to La Crosse, Wisconsin to face the Coulee Region Chill on Friday, March 20th before returning home for a rematch with the Chill on Saturday, March 21st at 7:05 PM at Richfield Arena.
