Miners Resume Road Trip, Venture To Pittsburgh

PIKEVILLE, KY. - CBA American Conference members Pittsburgh, East Kentucky and Albany continue to jockey for position as the postseason looms. Saturday will pit East Kentucky against Pittsburgh for a seventh and final time in the 2007-08 regular season. The Miners currently own a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series versus the Xplosion. In the last meeting between the two teams, East Kentucky claimed a 131-117 win over the Pittsburgh squad.

East Kentucky (21-20) has moved ahead of tradition-rich Albany in the American Conference standings. The Miners are ranked third behind second-place Pittsburgh (22-18). East Kentucky has won three of its last four games.

Minot (30-10) has maintained its place as the American Conference frontrunner. The Skyrockets own the CBA's second-best record behind league leader and five-time champion Yakama (35-3). Albany (19-18) has slipped into fourth-place in the conference. Atlanta (9-28) was exactly 10 games behind the Patroons heading into the weekend.

The Xplosion hasn't played since hosting Albany Friday, Feb. 15. Albany defeated Pittsburgh 110-107 in the American Conference contest. Pittsburgh has dropped two straight games. The Xplosion has finished short of claiming a victory in three of its last four outings. Miners forward Boo Jackson is the reigning American Conference Player of the Week.

Jackson has grabbed a pair of player of the week awards.

Following a single game in Pittsburgh, East Kentucky is slated to travel to Atlanta for two additional American Conference games against the Krunk. Tip-off for Saturday's East Kentucky-Pittsburgh matchup is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
