Minard Selected In Expansion Draft

June 13, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-Former New Mexico Scorpions goaltender Mike Minard was selected in the CHL Expansion Draft by the Rapid City Rush on Friday. His rights were then traded to the Rio Grande Valley Bees.

Minard appeared in 33 regular season games for the Scorpions this season. The veteran went 15-12-4 with a 3.74 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.

After playing the last few seasons in Europe, Minard came to the Scorpions and played a role on and off the ice in the Scorps 2007-08 successes. Current New Mexico goaltender Andrew Martin often credited his season's growth as a goalie to words of advice he received from Minard.

The Scorpions staff will continue to take in the annual CHL Summer Conference. The conference brings together team owners, staff, coaches, vendors and clients to have meetings about various topics for the 2008-09 CHL regular season.

A full agenda of sessions and events are planned that will highlight featured presenters covering a variety of topics. All sessions will assist in educating, training and preparing all teams and their staff for the upcoming season.
