Milwaukee Mustangs News Release

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Iron announced today that it has signed former Louisville Cardinal and 2007 Arena Football League All-Rookie Team wide receiver Tiger Jones for the 2010 season. Jones becomes a member of the Iron after a stellar career in the Big East Conference with the University of Louisville, a year in af2 and one season with the Georgia Force of the AFL.

Jones, 27, comes to the Iron after a break-out rookie season with the Georgia Force in 2008 where he was named to the AFL's All-Rookie team as a wide receiver. That season Jones led the Force and all AFL rookies with 30 touchdowns and was third on the team with 1,217 receiving yards, despite not being signed until the fifth week of the season. He was honored as the AFL's Offensive Player of the Week, May 21, after tallying a Force single-game high 224 receiving yards and tying the franchise record with 15 receptions and six touchdowns against New York. Later that month the AFL awarded him Rookie of the Month for May - his first month in the league.

"I'm excited about the opportunity," said Jones. "I know it's a great fan base up in Milwaukee and hopefully I can get up there and get everything going. I know it's been a long time coming for me and I've been getting ready by working out. I'm just excited to get started."

Prior to his AFL career, Jones spent the 2007 season in af2 with the Louisville Fire. With the Fire Jones put his name fourth on the all-time career-receiving list and sixth on the all-time career-scoring list by catching 142 passes for 1,897 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also set the Fire single-season record for most receiving yards. In the final week of the season Jones was awarded the Cutters Catch of the Week Award, highlighting the player who made the best catch of the week, after catching the game-winning touchdown pass with 11 seconds to play in the Fire's 44-40 victory over Tennessee Valley.

At the University of Louisville, Jones played in the Big East Conference against some of the best teams in college football under then Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino. After red-shirting his freshman year in 2000, Jones played in 51 games over three seasons, recording 26 catches for 326 yards and four touchdowns. Jones also played in the 2001 Liberty Bowl and 2002 GMAC Bowl for the Cardinals.

After his career at Louisville, Jones was signed as free agent by the Washington Redskins of the NFL in 2005 but was released at the end of training camp. In 2006, he was with the CFL's British Columbia Lions and released on their final cut.

A four-year letter winner in football at St. Paul's High School (Mobile, AL), Jones played wide receiver and defensive back while being named First-Team All-Southern Region selection on defense and Honorable Mention All-State on offense. He was a two-time Most Valuable Offensive Player for St. Paul's while also earning All-State honors in track his freshman year.
