Manchester, New Hampshire: The Manchester Millrats will be traveling to the Bahamas the end of this month to play the Bahama All Pro Show ABA team.
The two games will take place on Thursday February 28th and Friday February 29th at the Jack Haywood High School in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and will provide the opportunity for Bahamians to see ABA action firsthand.
The All Pro Show is the professional basketball team to be owned and operated by a Bahamian. The team's composition is Bahamian Nationals, Americans, and other Carribbean Nationals and Hispanics. They are led by their Head Coach Steve "Stretch" Culmer and star player Clayton "Smiley Culture" Miller.
"We look forward to the biggest challenge of the entire season and that is to face our big brothers in the League, the Manchester Millrats, in the Bahamas. This could be a big boost to our confidence going in to the playoffs because if we show we can compete with the Millrats, we know we have a shot to win a championship," stated All Pro Show Owner Ricardo Smith.
The Bahama All Pro Show has struggled to play their ABA schedule because of several Floridian teams that dropped out after the league schedule was set.
"We made a committment that we would be willing to travel to help ABA teams that needed to play home games," explained Millrats Principal Owner Jason Briggs, "and to be able to do so in the Bahamas is a treat and a reward for our team."
The Millrats are currently 18-9 and fresh off a 98-95 win over the defending ABA Champion Vermont Frost Heaves on Saturday. The All Pro Show is 1-5 having dropped two games to the Atlanta Vision.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
