Millrats Rally Falls Short

The Manchester Millrats and Rochester Razorsharks took center stage in the first ever Premier Basketball League contest at Lundholm Gymnasium on the campus of University of New Hampshire on Sunday evening. After being down by as many as 27 in the second quarter, the Millrats stormed back in the second half but fell just short of winning the shootout, 128-124.
The game sported three players associated with the host school: former UNH backcourt members Eric Gilchrese and Tyrece Gibbs of the Millrats played once again on their old stomping grounds, while Rochester's Keith Friel, son of the late former UNH Head Coach Gerry Friel, returned to Durham to perform in front of his hometown crowd.
The Millrats reeled off 10 straight points to pull within five after the first two minutes of the half. Manchester stayed within firing range of Rochester and was only down two,126-124, with two seconds to go, but Rochester made the final two free throws to ice the win.
Eric Gilchrese netted 28 points and dished out 5 assists to lead the Millrats in his homecoming. Charles Bronson also recorded a near double-double with 19 points and 9 boards. Last week's PBL Player of the Week, Anthony Anderson also added 17 to go along with 5 assists. Jerice Crouch led all scorers with 34, while and Glen Dandridge poured in 28 for Rochester.
