Montreal, Canada: The Manchester Millrats overcame the Montreal Royal on the road, for a hard fought 125-123 win.
The Millrats' Rob Sanders sat out tonight's game with sore knees, further complicating Manchester's personnel woes.
But the remaining eight players dug down and claimed a 64-60 halftime lead. The Royal then came out of halftime blazing, scoring 21 points in the first five minutes to establish an 85-73 lead.
Then the Millrats, behind scrappy defense and tough buckets by Anthony Anderson and others, managed to tie the score at 98-98. Cordell Jeanty's three pointer at the third quarter buzzer gave Montreal a 101-98 lead.
In the fourth, Manchester rallied again from down double figures to go ahead 124-123 on new addition Eric Downie's tough jumper in traffic with 16 seconds left. Manchester then stole the ball and Al Stewart hit one free throw to put his team ahead two. Another two steals in a mad flurry ended the Royal's chance for another shot.
Anthony Anderson led the Millrats with 27 points. Al Stewart scored 23 pointd, Charles Mason 22, PJ Young added 20. Mannix Auriantal had 27 for Montreal.
The win improves Manchester to 15-9 on the season. They take their new two game win streak to Boston next week for a road game on the 26th, and the Boston returns the favor, coming to New Hampshire on the 27th at 4:35 pm.
