January 18, 2009 Manchester, NH: The Manchester Millrats claimed first place in the Atlantic Division of the Premier Basketball League by dismantling the Halifax Rainmen 117-98 in Manchester.

Halifax came into today's game as the division leader with a 4-2 record, while Manchester had won two straight games against Vermont to even their record at 2 wins and 2 losses.

Snowing blizzard-like conditions outside the Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University couldn't dampen the spirit of the home crowd as they helped Manchester maintain a narrow margin throughout the game. Manchester claimed a narrow 46-43 halftime lead.

The Millrats broke the game open midway through the fourth quarter, scoring 37 points in the final stanza to put away the Rainmen. Manchester was paced by shooting guard Keith Salscheider's 22 points (12-13 from the free throw line), Al Stewart's 17 points and 9 assists, Desmond Ferguson 15, Sam Carey 13, and Scott Hazelton 12.

The game also marked the return of former Millrat Rob Sanders to the Fieldhouse. Sanders scored 19 points and hauled down 20 rebounds for the Rainmen. Glen Dandridge led all scorers with 24 points.

Manchester hits the road on Friday to face the Montreal Sasquatch in a rematch game. On Sunday January 25th, the Millrats will be home for a 2:30pm tip off versus the Quebec Kebs.
