Saint John Riptide News Release
The Manchester Millrats of the American Basketball Association have added 6'0 point guard Ismael "Izzy" Caro from Hartford, Connecticut.
"Izzy" was the starting point guard for the Cariduros de Fajardo, in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) - a first division Puerto Rican professional league played in the summertime. With Caro at the helm, the Cariduros advanced to the final series of the BSN playoffs this past August. He posted averages of 12.2 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 49% from the field in a league with ex-NBA players.
Before that, Caro joined the ABA's Cape Cod Frenzy for the last four games of the 2006-2007 season, and produced 21.5 points, 10.2 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 steals per game.
In college, he was part of the 2002 Creighton Blue Jays team that stunned the 5th seeded Florida Gators in the NCAA tournament. His teammate was current Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Korver. Caro completed his college eligibility at the University of New Haven where he earned Conference Player of Year and lit up the Blue Charger record books.
Izzy is an explosive and dynamic point guard whose swagger reveals no lack of confidence, and he has a knack to make big plays when needed.
In the Millrats recent preseason win at Vermont, Caro scored 15 points and dished out 6 assists.
The Millrats are a new entry in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and will play their home games in the 'Fieldhouse' on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.
