Mill Rats Win in Convincing Fashion

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, showed the crowd a taste of the excitement to come this season by beating the Moncton Miracles 110 to 94, in convincing fashion, before a capacity crowd at Harbour Station.

Tonight was the Rogers Slam Dunk night in Saint John and the game lived up to the hype.

"It was a very exciting game tonight. We made a lot of fans happy and we came out and got the job done. Looking forward to the season - we are going to work hard until the end of season to reach our goals," says Mill Rats centre Modibo Diarra.

Saint John opened the game with an early quarter run with a basket from Antoine Tisby, followed by two threes from Steve Deluca who rocked the hardwood last season with the team.

The Mill Rats were led by Anthony Anderson with 25 points, Steve Deluca and Jerome Brown coming in with 17 each. Will Blalock and Dele Ojo gelled as a team offering 6 assists each. The Miracles were led by Andrew Francis with 24 points.

Up next for the Mill Rats is an away game in PEI where they take on the Storm, Friday evening, November. 4th, 2011 at 7:30pm.
