(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats exacted payback over the Island Storm, 110-107, in Prince Edward Island.

The Storm had delivered the biggest loss of the season last Sunday in Saint John, 132-97.

"Gabe (Freeman) was the MVP of this league for a reason and was amazing tonight," said Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon. "He took great shots and really bailed us out down the stretch. Johnny was on fire from the perimeter."

The first half ended up tied 50-50. The Mill Rats built a 78-72 lead as the third quarter wound down, but the Storm scored 6 straight to tie with 22 seconds left. Anthony Anderson ran the time down and drilled a step back three pointer at the quarter buzzer to give Saint John the lead back at 81-78.

In the fourth, Saint John's ball movement was really sharp and the Mill Rats built a 104-94 lead with under 3 minutes to go. But the Storm weren't going away easy, and Malcolm Grant nailed three straight pull up three pointers to cut the deficit to 108-106 with just 58 seconds left.

After a Mill Rats miss, Grant went to the basket and his miss was gathered by Tirrell Baines who was fouled on the put back. Baines missed the first free throw, but made the second for a 108-107 Mill Rats lead with 26.6 seconds left.

Again Saint John ran the clock down all the way down, but Johnny Mayhane's three was off. But there was Freeman for the cleanup, as he tipped in the errant miss to beat the shot clock, for a 110-107 lead with 2.1 remaining. On the final possession, Ricky Volcy stripped Grant as he rose up for a shot attempt to seal the win.

Anthony Stover left the game with an eye injury in the first quarter and did not return.

Freeman led Saint John with 38 points and 9 rebounds, Johnny Mayhane scored 27 points on 9 three points, equaling the number of threes that Anderson hit the night before, and Anderson added 14 points.

The Mill Rats improve to 16-10 on the season while the Storm drops to 10-16.

The Mill Rats are 2-0 on the current road trip. They head to Orangeville and Windsor this weekend before returning home to face the Moncton Miracles at home on March 23rd.
