(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats downed the Moncton Miracles Saturday evening in front of a crowd of 1,881 with a final score of 92-80.

The Mill Rats bolted out of the gate and held the lead for the entire game. By the end of the half, the Mill Rats were leading the Miracles 49-34. The Mill Rats were able to get the ball inside and use their post players effectively. At the end of the half, Antoine Tisby and Kevin Francis led the Mill Rats in points with 13 and 11, respectively.

The Miracles fought hard in the third quarter, narrowing the score gap to a single point spread. Their run was answered by 2 three pointers from Greg Plummer and Anthony Anderson. Anderson then proceeded to sink another two, bringing the lead back into the double digits, 63-48.

Tonight the crowd at Harbour Station saw minutes from every player. Newly signed guard Calvin Cage from Bowie, MD, with 7 assists and 7 points, was the game's leader in assists.

"It was a total team effort tonight. Everybody contributed from the entire bench. We did a good job cooling off a hot team coming off their first win," said Assistant Coach Jim Palmer.

Head Coach Jaren Jackson added, "It was a merry win for the Mill Rats. For the first time we got production in the beginning of the game. We really came out and were able to get a good start. We had trouble with that in past games and in that sense, I'm really excited to move forward."

Leading scorers for the Mill Rats were Greg Plummer with 18 points, Kevin Francis and Antoine Tisby with 15 each and Anthony Anderson with 14. Trayvon Lathan from the Moncton Miracles led the game in points with 21, followed by Darrell Wonge with 14 and Boubacar Coly with 12.

The Mill Rats rise to 8-6 while the Moncton Miracles fall to 1-12. The Saint John Mill Rats have won 8 of their last 11 games.

The Mill Rats host the London Lightning on December 29th at Harbour Station for the "Oldies Rock n' Roll" theme. The Lightning feature Head Coach and former NBA All Star, Michael Ray Richardson. Game time 7pm.

Mill Rats single game and flex tickets are now on sale at the Harbour Station box office 657-1234 or the Mill Rats office 214-4454.
