Saint John Riptide News Release
The Saint John Mill Rats improved to a franchise record 3-0 start by downing the Moncton Miracles 121-112 at Harbour Station.
Corey Allmond began the game absolutely on fire hitting six three points en route to 23 points in the first quarter.
Despite the high octane shooting, the Miracles kept the game close trailing by just 64-59 at the half.
"Credit to Coach Langis and the Moncton players they showed no quit and kept attacking us," said Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon. "Our guys kept on the mission and managed to prevail. I like how we are finishing off close games."
The third quarter was nip and tuck the whole way before Anthony Anderson heated up and knocked down 3 triples. The Mill Rats lead 91-81 going into the fourth.
After building the lead to fourteen, the Miracles responded and cut it to three. But then Doug Herring Jr nailed a tough driving layup and Anderson kept firing from the perimeter to maintain the lead.
As the Miracles had to foul to stop the clock, Gabe Freeman grabbed an offensive rebound on a missed free throw to close the door on Moncton.
Anthony Anderson led Saint John with 33 points, Corey Allmond 30, Doug Herring Jr 25, Gabe Freeman 11, and Ricky Volcy 11. James Justice led Moncton with 18 points.
Saint John improves to 3-0 and Moncton falls to 0-4.
The Mill Rats host the Island Storm next Saturday January 2nd at 7PM at Harbour Station.
Single game, flex, and prorated season tickets are on sale at the Harbour Station Box Office or by calling 506-657-1234 or by visiting www.harbourstation.ca.
