October 5, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Saint John Riptide News Release
The Saint John Mill Rats are pleased to announce the signing of 6'9 forward/centre Braxton Dupree from Baltimore, Maryland.
Dupree played with the NBL Canada's London Lightning during their 2011-12 inaugural championship season.
"Braxton is a quality big and he's a load inside," said Mill Rats General Manager Ian McCarthy. "He was a rookie when he played with London but since then he's made a career in Europe the last few years"
He began his college career at the University of Maryland before transferring to Towson State, where he posted averages his junior year of 12 points and 8 rebounds per game.
After becoming a professional he signed to play with Maccabi Ashdod in the Israeli Premier League in the fall of 2011. Mid season he found himself a free agent and landed with the Lightning. Following London he went back to Europe where he played in Bulgaria as well as Germany.
"I'm ready to work," said Dupree in a message to the team from Europe.
Dupree joins shooting guard Corey Allmond and Canadian forward Denny McDonald as the players signed by the Mill Rats to date. More signings will be announced in the coming weeks including returning players.
Season tickets are on sale at the Harbour Station Box Office or by calling 506-657-1234.
