Mill Rats Add Trio

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, have added a trio of new players to their roster including 6'5 wings DeAndre Taylor and Joe Posey, and 6'8 Canadian power forward Sheray Thomas. Taylor is pending FIBA clearance.
Taylor is an electrifying scorer who possesses a 45 inch vertical leap. He hails from Chicago, Illinois and was recently in training camp with the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League. He played collegiately at Northern Michigan.
Joe Posey was in training camp with the Mill Rats in October as a tryout player but was not signed. He was a teammate of Mill Rats Head Coach David Cooper and current Mill Rat, Cavell Johnson, at James Madison University. His brother is current NBA player Chris Johnson of the New Orleans Hornets. Posey scored 18 points off the bench in a road win at Moncton during the preseason.
Sheray Thomas is a 6'8 power forward who hails from Montreal and played four years at the University of Kentucky. He played 8 games for the Montreal Jazz posting averages of 10 points and 5 rebounds per game. His best game of the season was a 20 point and 8 rebound performance on November 18th against the London Lightning.
"We realized real quick that we needed to get smaller, faster and more athletic to be able to compete in the league this season," stated Mill Rats General Manager Ian McCarthy. "These guys are going to provide that for us."
To make room for these players, the Mill Rats have released Antonio Anderson and Micah Brand, and moved Modibo Diarra to the taxi squad. Anderson, who was battling an eye ailment, is scheduled for a second eye surgery in the US. Brand is expected to join the Moncton Miracles.
The Mill Rats head to Halifax on this Saturday November 8th for an important road game. Catch the Mill Rats back at Harbour Station on December 13th as they host the Halifax Rainmen at 7pm!
