Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats have added some front court firepower in 6'6 240lb power forward Florentino Valencia and 6'10 power forward / centre Terrence Green, pending FIBA clearance.

Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon discovered Rob Spon at a camp in Ohio last week, and said: "Florentino is a power forward in the 'Kenny Jones' mold, meaning he has a heck of alot of post moves on the block."

Valencia participated in the London Lightning training camp last season but was not signed. He plays professionally each summer in the BSN league in Puerto Rico. He has also played in the Premier Basketball League for the Lake Michigan Admirals and the Battle Creek Knights. With the Admirals, Valencia averaged 21.1 and 10 rebounds per game. He played his college ball at Toledo (2003-2007).

Terrence Green is a 6'10 high flying power forward / centre. He played last season in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) and won the league championship with the Bloomington Flex. Just prior with the Cincinnati Slam of the UBA, Green averaged 14.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Before turning pro he played for Augustana College where he averaged 5.4 blocks per game.

All players will be in town for the team's training camp slated to begin mid-October.
