February 19, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
St. Louis Flight News Release

(St. Louis, MO) - The rapidly improving St. Louis Flight basketball team will be joined by Mike 'the tackle' Jones for Sunday's game against Texas. St. Louis (10-15) has won two of their last three games, including Thursday's 88 - 84 win over Texas in Fort Worth. Game time at Family Arena is 2:00 p.m. Jones starred as a runningback at the University of Missouri and had a long, successful career as a linebacker in the NFL and is best known for his game saving tackle to preserve the Rams victory in Super Bowl XXXIV. The American Basketball Association's '11th man' rule allows teams to add an extra 'celebrity' player to their home roster for selected games. Jones will be the best athlete to ever participate in the Flight's home games. Miss Kentucky 2001, Monica Hardin will sing the National Anthem prior to the game between the two Central Division rivals. St. Louis guard Cedric Moodie has been providing explosive scoring recently. The Ball State product has increased his team leading scoring average to 16.2 with totals of 31, 22 and 21 in the team's last three games. Mizzou's Tyrone Lee is the team's leading rebounder. Every St. Louis home game can be heard on 1380 ESPN and on the web at www.1380ESPN.com. Harry Schroeder and St. Louis American sports writer Maurice Scott handle the announcing duties. For ticket information or directions, contact the Family Arena at 636-896-4242 or order on line at www.metrotix.com.
