Albany Empire News Release
Albany, NY - Capital Region business owner Mike Kwarta has assumed majority ownership of The Albany Empire. Kwarta is taking over the controlling shares from previous majority owners Ron Tridico and Nate Starling. Kwarta is also the owner of Tech East Fire & Water Restoration located in Colonie, NY.
Kwarta's success with Tech East has garnered him the reputation of respect and reliability in the Capital Region. His dedication to the area has impacted many, as described by an anonymous fan following the 2021 championship win. In a letter to Kwarta, the fan described Mike's selflessness and commitment to bringing arena football back to Albany. Even when Kwarta did not have the controlling interest in the team, he worked tirelessly to ensure the 2021 season was a success. You can read the full letter here: https://bit.ly/3knEiGa.
Mike is eager to get started, saying, "The goal from day one was to make sure that the Empire would play and stay in Albany. I would like to thank Ron Tridico and Nate Starling Jr. for being a part of bringing our championship team to Albany, and I wish them the best in their future endeavors. As great as year one was, I know that we can get better not only on the field but as an organization and member of the community. So, I've decided to put my money where my mouth is and take over majority control of the Empire. Some will see this as a gamble, but I see it as doing everything I can to make sure my hometown will get to keep it's hometown team. I also look forward to working with John Kane as a minority investor".
Bob Belber, the General Manager of the Times Union Center, is looking forward to having a local business owner take over majority control, "Mike Kwarta was a minority local owner within the Albany Empire ownership group in 2021 and it's great to see Mike take over majority ownership of the team. We can't wait to see our Albany Empire champions return for the 2022 season".
As the 2022 season approaches, The Empire prepares to put the best product on the field with Mike Kwarta at the helm.
