Danbury Whalers Want to "Take a Kid to the Game"
The Danbury Whalers, in collaboration with the Federal Hockey League (FHL), is looking for local support in the league's newest program called "Take a Kid to the Game". The program is focused on bringing underprivileged groups, individuals and organizations to see professional hockey in the local communities of the league's teams.
"Hockey is a great sport that's played all over the world, but there are plenty of people who have only seen hockey on television," said Alan Friedman, team President & CFO. "With the league's program, several local families and non-profit organizations can have the chance to see a live, professional hockey game in their own backyard."
This season, all FHL member teams will be participating and partnering with businesses and individuals throughout their local communities, and the designed goal is to bring families, groups, and organizations who might not have the ability to purchase tickets. As part of the "Take a Kid to the Game" program, the participating sponsors will be recognized on the team website and social media. Promotional announcements and recognition will also take place on the game night with the receiving group.
"We're glad to see several companies have already signed up, even before the season starts in October," mentioned Jed Wilson, Whalers Sr. Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "It would be great if the Danbury Whalers and our local supporters can take several kids to every home game."
If you or your company has an interest in supporting this program, contact the Danbury Whalers at 973-713-7547 or send an email to hsorcher@thedanburywhalers.com.
