Miami Manatees Mascot "Manashe" Requests "Manahee" Joins her on Historic Flight
June 23, 2003 - World Hockey Association-2 (WHA2)
Miami Manatees News Release
The Miami Manatees today announced that Manashe requested the presence of fellow Manatees mascot Manahee on her first airplane flight.
As the day of the flight drew closer, Manashe started to grow a little nervous about the prospect of flying alone and asked the WHA2 to purchase an airplane ticket for Manahee. Manahee is reported to be very excited about flying on Southwest Airlines and has requested the seaweed meal. Manahee and Manashe will be departing from Ft Lauderdale International Airport and will be boarding Southwest Airlines flight 1013 at 4:00 on Monday, June 23rd. Media wishing for photo opportunities are advised to arrive early near the Southwest Airlines Front Check-in Counter.
Wearing the costume of Manashe will be Miami Manatees Owner and League Co-Founder David Waronker, and he will be available to answer any media questions and meet fans. Please RSVP Miami Director of Communications Mark Fischel before 2:00 Monday to make any special arrangements or if there are any further questions.
The Miami Manatees make their home in the Miami Arena and will face off against the Lakeland Loggerheads, Jacksonville Barracudas, Orlando Seals, Macon Trax, and a yet-to-be-named Central Alabama team in late October in the new WHA2. Season Tickets for the Miami Manatees are now on sale. For further information, please contact the Manatees at (305) 536-7825.
