Miami Manatees Announce Dance Team Tryouts

Miami, Fla. – The Miami Manatees announced today that they will be holding tryouts for the Manatees Dance Team on Sunday, October 5th.

The Manatees Dance Team will be made up of 15 dancers. The Dance Team will delight the crowds and cheer on the team at all home games at the Miami Arena. They will also take part in various promotions and marketing initiatives for the Manatees around the South Florida area.

The Manatees Dance Team will be choreographed by Alina Lanza, owner and choreographer of "Just Dance It" dance studio located in Kendall. Over 500 students are enrolled in Lanza's studio to learn all forms of dance, including hip-hop, jazz, ballet, tap, and more. In July 2003, Lanza took home the "Best Choreographer" award at the Dance Educators of America National Competition.

"I am very excited to be working with a new team. I have a lot of great ideas for our new dancers. I am confident that the Dance team will bring entertainment for all ages and enhance the overall atmosphere for the Miami Manatees games." Lanza said.

In addition to game night duties, the Manatees Dance Team will be active in the community with the Hockey4Kids Program, the S.K.A.T.E. Program, and many other Miami Manatees charity programs.

Open Auditions for the Manatees Dance Team will be held on Sunday, October 5th starting at 9:00 AM at the Miami Arena, located at 701 Arena Blvd, Miami 33136. Those interested in trying out must be at least 18 years of age by October 31, 2003 and must bring a head shot, resume, and one form of identification.

The Miami Manatees will face off against the Alabama Slammers, Jacksonville Barracudas, Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, and Orlando Seals in the WHA2's inaugural season.
