Memphis Tornadoes News Release
With two key additions to their line up in #23 Tony Carr and #44 Steve Eluett from the Tri-City Crusaders, Memphis came ready to play against No.1 seed Decatur. Memphis got out to a strong start in the first as Decatur struggled to knock down their shots. #15 Cedrick Lewis had the hot hand for Memphis and seemed to be unstoppable with 14pts at the half. Their new additions, Carr & Eluett crashed the boards well along with #30 Lorenzo Dorse, combining for 15 at the half. After being down the first quarter, the Court Kings would take the lead 56-49 at the half but none of the Court Kings had more than 10 points. Pig Miller had 10pts, 6reb but teammates Isaac Cook (9pts), Al Stewart (10pts), and Dele Ojo (9pts,7asst) picked up their equal share of the slack. Memphis' Cedrick Lewis continued to cause match up problems in the second half and easily earned his 34pts against Decatur, but the Court Kings came out strong in the third and their defense proved to be too much for the Tornadoes. Al Stewart would have to sit much of the third due to foul trouble but gave a great performance in the fourth to help shut down Memphis. Pig Miller gave a stellar performance in the second half to finish with 27pts, and 18reb for the game. This was a great team performance by the Court Kings with seven players scoring in double figures.
