
Memphis Grizzlies Re-Assign Josh Selby to Bighorns

RENO, NEV.- The Memphis Grizzlies have re-assigned rookie guard Josh Selby to the Reno Bighorns, it was announced today. This marks the fourth NBA player assignment to the Bighorns this season.
Selby has played in 23 games with the Grizzlies this season averaging 2.5 points, 1.2 assists, 0.6 rebounds and 0.3 steals per game. His NBA season was highlighted on December 30 against the Houston Rockets when he had nine points, seven assists and two rebounds in 26 minutes of play.
Selby previously played four games with the Bighorns this season averaging 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He scored 20-plus points in three of his four games with the team, including a season-high 26 points in his Bighorns debut on February 14 against the Austin Toros.
Drafted in the second round (49th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft out of Kansas, Selby rejoins former Kansas Jayhawk center Paul Mokeski, head coach of the Bighorns. Selby played one year for the Jayhawks, averaging 7.9 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 26 games.
In his senior year of high school, Selby attended Lake Clifton High School and averaged 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals per game. He was ranked the top prospect out of high school by Rivals.com and was named the 2010-11 NCAA Preseason Rookie of the Year.
Selby will take the court with the Bighorns when they travel to Los Angeles for a game against the D-Fenders on Wednesday, March 28 at the Toyota Sports Complex. Bighorns fans can see Selby's game in person when the team returns to Reno for its final home games of the season on Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
