Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA - When the movie "Invincible" opens on Friday, August 25, AFL fans will see approximately 50 Arena Football players in theaters nationwide including Philadelphia Soul players Cornelius White, Rob Milanese and team ambassador Keita Crespina. The movie, which is based on the NFL career of Vince Papale of the Philadelphia Eagles (1976-78), stars Mark Wahlberg (as Papale) and Greg Kinnear (as Dick Vermeil).
Many AFL players have participated in previous football films (The Longest Yard, The Waterboy, Any Given Sunday) as extras, teammates or the stars' body-doubles. This film is no different as White plays the role of a tight end on the Eagles team, Milanese is a member of the "Rough Touch" football game and Crespina is the body-double for former Eagles defensive back Nicoye Banks.
"Invincible" tells the unlikely story of a down-on-his luck teacher and part-time bartender, Papale, who earned a roster spot on the Philadelphia Eagles after attending an open tryout. Open tryouts, a staple to the AFL, are held every off-season throughout the league. For more information on open tryouts with the Soul, visit www.philadelphiasoul.com.
Season tickets for the Soul's 2007 season are on sale now. Tickets start as low as $96. For more information call (888) PHIL-AFL or log on to www.philadelphiasoul.com. The Soul are entering their fourth season in the AFL and have drawn a League best 387,491 fans combined during the past three years.
