Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades today announced that The Pas, Manitoba will once again be well represented on the team as forwards DONALD MELNYK and BRETT NEEDHAM have agreed to terms and will be back for the 2008-09 season. Needham and Melnyk are the only two active players remaining from the opening day roster of the original 2006-07 Richmond Renegades. Renegades head coach Brian Goudie is also from The Pas.

In 49 regular season games last season, Melnyk had 26 goals and 27 assists and was plus 3. He led the team with 6 short handed goals to go along with his 6 power play goals.

Needham appeared in 43 regular season games during the 2007-08 campaign. He had 8 goals and 22 assists and was plus 2. Five of his goals came on the power play and one of his goals was a game winning goal. In two playoff games he had one goal and one assist.

"These two players are key players in every game they appear," stated Renegades head coach Brian Goudie. "Needham's size allows him to go into the corners and come out with the puck and Melnyk's quickness is his strength as seen by his short handed goals."

Renegades training camp starts Monday, October 13th and the regular season starts at home on Friday, October 24th.
